Day 25

Today was not as eventful as yesterday, but day by day there is progress.
I am sad to report that for now his brain injury is causing him to forget things, and today "again," he discovered he didn't have any legs.
He does remember our names, the boys, family, and many other things...but missing his legs was a whole new thing today and it was not easy for him. His frontal lobe was severely damaged but it is amazing to me how well he was doing considering that fact!!
Physical therapy is going great, he is lifting up with his arms, and pushing hard as ever to do what is asked of him. He has obviously lost a lot of weight so we are encouraging him to eat more because if he doesn't they will put the feeding or a G tube in....and right now he is NOT eating a lot!
Tomorrow is a whole new day and it may be better or the same...but I have faith we won't take a step back....Please, please continue to pray, and specifically for the eating part, and that his brain injury will heal and he will be able to cope with what is, and continue being the person he was so wonderfully made to be!!!

  3. Carrie, I bet that's common to lose short-term memory with that type of injury. We will be praying specifically for the things you mentioned: eating more and his brain injury and other things as well...comfort, strength, rest and peace for you as you stand by his side and encourage him. You guys are SO LOVED by so many and I know the prayers are continuing fast and furious as each day goes by. Love you all and we look forward to more of the good news that comes each day!

  4. Carrie-I have a great book that I had to read for a college class which includes alot of awesome info re: phantom leg syndromes from the perspective of the patient, their physicians and caregivers. If you would like to send me a mailing address where I can send it, I would love for you to have it. My email is themayquad@gmail.com.

    Praying daily!

  5. Carrie, Jim and I both pray for you all every single day. Wow! I couldn't stop crying when I read that Grand is sitting, talking, eating, all that good stuff. God is so good to answer our prayers. Today I prayed for God to give you not just what you and Grand needed but what you wanted too. Your faith shows as a bright warm light to all of us who read your blog. You are both so amazing, and I'm blessed by knowing you. My love as always, Nancy

  6. Carrie, you are an inspiration to many people in NE Oklahoma and Northern California who do not know you personally but have heard of your struggle via prayer groups. Please know that you and Grand are in the prayers of many believers and we are praying for peace, calm, healing, rest, and strength to live fully each minute of each day. God's grace and peace to you both. Pat
